John E. Zuranski, 91, of Hillcrest Ave., Utica, NY, passed away Wednesday, August 5, 2009 at his home.
He was born January 5, 1918 in Utica, a son of Adam and Rose Syzmanski Zuranski and was educated in Utica Schools. John joined the U.S. Navy serving aboard the USS Indianapolis, and later served in the U.S. Army in New Guinea during WWII. On May 3, 1947, John was united in marriage to Sarah E. Palladino in Our Lady of Lourdes Church. She predeceased him on October 16, 1998. A life long Utica resident, John was self employed in construction until his retirement. He had previously worked at West End Brewing Co., Westinghouse and Bosserts. He was a former member of the VFW in Clinton.
Surviving are his children, Patricia and Richard Burleigh of Oriskany Falls; Sandy and Michael Tedesco of Clinton; Jack Zuranski of Vernon Center; Gary Zuranski and Sheila Howard of Oriskany Falls; Jim Zuranski of Waterville; Robert Zuranski and Sally Jasewicz of Mohawk; many grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A son, Tom Zuranski predeceased him in 1994.
Prayers of committal with military honors followed by entombment will be held at 11 AM Saturday, August 8, 2009 in Holy Trinity Mausoleum, Utica.
