I'd forgotten about this until after I talked with Damian recently. We lived up the hill from the Ulatowski's and I was often at their home. Mrs. Ulatowski made the best pickles I have ever had then or since. She made them in a big crock submerged in the "secret" juices, held under by a plate. These were not small pickles by any means. She would let me snag one whenever they had some. She knew I loved them.
On an aside I also learned some interesting polish words from them of which I still remember.
As Damian and I were reminiscing, we recalled what a great time it was to grow up in Sherburne, during the late 1950's thru the 1970's. Part of that was the way we made our own fun and the pickles. I hope someone still has that recipe. Chuck Drake
