Robert Cossitt, 81, of Hamilton, NY, died after a brief affliction on Saturday March 24, 2018, at The Grand of Rome Rehabilitation Facility.
Born October 28, 1936 to Allen and Helen (Skinner) Cossitt. he graduated from Hamilton Central School and Morrisville College. Bob married Cordelia (Corde) DesJardins on October 19, 1957 in Augusta, NY. He worked in the family trucking business, Hamilton Motor Express until the late 70's. He worked briefly at Colgate University until he and Corde moved to Boonville, NY to own/operate Red Carpet Skateway in January 1980. Bob semi-retired in December 1990 and started Red Carpet Antiques. Bob was an avid Jeff Gordon and NASCAR fan. He was a collector of toys, gas pumps, Hess trucks, gas signs and Coke Displays.
Bob is survived by his wife, Corde, of Hamilton, NY; his daughter Linda Cossitt of Gastonia, NC, and his son Steven Cossitt of Earlville NY; grandchildren Desiree Cossitt-Davis (Troy Liebi) of Camden, NY, Casey Cossitt-Yager (Desiree Butka) of Sherrill, NY, Sydney Cossitt of Gastonia, NC. Steven Cossitt II, (Emily Hopkins) of Nelson, NY, and Daniel Cossitt of Cazenovia, NY. Bob also has one great grandson Parker Davis of Camden, NY and another great grandchild expected (Casey & Desiree) in October. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews; a sister-in-law & brother-in-law; Nora & Stuart Link, several brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law; Tommy & Ina DesJardins, Jackie DesJardins, Charles DesJardins Jr, Louie & Lois DesJardins, and Joe DesJardins. He was predeceased by his grandson-in-law, Jeromie Davis, his great grandson, Michael Cossitt, and a brother-in-law, Daniel DesJardins.
Funeral Services will be held at 11am Thursday, March 29, 2018 at the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 25 Broad Street, Hamilton, NY.
Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 28, from 5pm-8pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made in Bob's name to
the Alzheimer’s Association.
