Obituary for John M. Ray

John M. Ray, 72, of Route 12B, Hamilton, NY, passed away Monday, February 19, 2018 at Abraham House in Utica, NY.
He was born November 25, 1945 in Hamilton, a son of Russell A. and Caroldine Hasler Ray. He was a graduate of Hamilton High School and attended New Mexico State College. John was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Vietnam Conflict from 1966-68 and was honorably discharged. He had married Barbara Legreca. John worked for the family business, Ray’s Wayside in Hamilton until retiring. He was a sports enthusiast and an avid fan of the NY Yankees and the NY Giants. He also loved music.
Surviving are his sons, Tucker Ray of Hamilton and Colin Ray of Bouckville; a brother and sister-in-law, Eddie and Linda Ray of Hamilton; four grandchildren, Callen, Mairyn, Felix and Devyn; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Russ and Caroldine; and two sisters, Pamela Ray Dale and Linda Ray White.
A celebration of John’s life will be held at Ray Brothers Barbeque. Located at 6474 Route 20 in Bouckville, from 5-9 pm on Tuesday March 13th.
In lieu of flowers the family is asking that a donation be made in his name to the Abraham House, where John received his end of life care. Checks can be made out to and mailed to 1203 Kemble St., Utica NY 13501.
Interment is private at the convenience of his family.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 25 Broad St., Hamilton, NY.
