Obituary for Nancy R. Morgan (Rockwell)

Nancy R. Morgan (Rockwell)
Nancy R. Morgan, 61, of Stafford Ave., Waterville, NY, passed away Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Utica.
She was born in Utica on March 10, 1956 (a birthdate shared with her father and grandfather), a daughter of James and Althea (Phillips) Rockwell. Nancy grew up on her family's dairy farm in Deansboro, NY and was a graduate of Waterville High School; SUNY Cobleskill; and SUNY Oneonta. Nancy married James Morgan on June 30, 1979 at St. Bernard’s Church in Waterville. Nancy was a teaching assistant at Memorial Park Elementary School for 18 years. A lifelong Waterville resident, Nancy's radiant joy and infectious smile shined through her community. She was a member of the Waterville Garden Club. She loved knitting weekly with her friends, the Chix with Sticks. Nancy was also a talented seamstress who enjoyed assisting with costume design for the high school music program. Nancy was an avid swimmer who spent her summers giving swimming lessons at Madison Lake. Above all, Nancy was a loving wife and mother whose life centered on her family and a strong Christian faith. She was a member of St. Bernard’s Church.
Nancy is survived by her husband, Jim; her mother and step-father, Althea and James Suire, Beaumont, TX; her children, Kellan and Yacarely Morgan of Rochester, NY; Brett Morgan of Urbanna, VA; and Kate Morgan of Waterville; a sister and brother-in-law, Sarah “Sally” and Hugh Whynot of Buna, TX; her nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her relatives: Gribnaus, Zogbys, Morgans, Greens, Kaplans, and Plourdes. She was predeceased by her father and a brother, Dan Rockwell.
A Mass to celebrate Nancy’s life will be held at 3pm Friday, February 16, 2018 at St. Bernard’s Church, 199 Stafford Ave., Waterville.
Interment in St. Bernard’s Cemetery will be private at the convenience of her family.
In keeping with Nancy's wishes, there will not be calling hours, but the family
sincerely hopes to have all family and friends join them in Celebration of Life at Four Eleven Tower, Waterville, following the mass.
Contributions in her memory may be made to: Waterville Area Food Pantry,
c/o Roberta White, 234 White Street, Waterville, NY (Memo-Weekend Warriors)
