Thelma F. Belitz, 73, of Airport Rd., Hamilton, NY, passed away Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse.
She was born May 8, 1944 in Norwich, a daughter of William and Margaret Dietz Brown and was a graduate of Norwich High School. She was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served from 1963 to 1965. On December 19, 1964, Thelma married Francis X. Belitz at Great Lakes, IL, a loving union of 53 years. Thelma had worked for the Morrisville Auxiliary Corp. at SUNY, Morrisville for 28 years until retiring.
Thelma was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Hamilton. She was a member of the American Legion Post #375 of Hamilton.
Surviving are her husband, Francis; a son and daughter-in-law, William and Shannon Belitz of Rome; a sister, Janice Hooftallen of Earlville; and a niece, Esther Hooftallen, who was like a daughter to her.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 PM Monday, January 22, 2018 at St. Mary’s Church, 16 Wylie St., Hamilton.
Interment will be at a later date in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Hamilton, NY with military honors.
Friends are invited to call at the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 25 Broad St., Hamilton on Monday from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm.
