SHARON E. SIMMONS
WEST EDMESTON: Sharon E. Simmons, 66, of Hollow Rd., passed away Sunday, January 7, 2018 at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Utica.
She was born August 13, 1951 in Utica, a daughter of Everett and Josephine Furner Bugbee and was a graduate of Brookfield High School. On September 6, 1969, Sharon was married to her best friend and soulmate, Roy P. Simmons, at St. Bernard’s Church in Waterville. Sharon worked at SUNY Morrisville for 20 years until retiring.
Surviving are her husband of 48 blessed years, Roy; her children, Kelli Gonyea and her significant other, Alan Ricalton of Watertown; Colleen Rutherford of Brookfield; Rori and Claude Harris of West Edmeston; sisters, Sue Johnson of Waterville; Margaret (Harold) Kiel of Oneida, Kathy Bugbee of Waterville, Vera Schactler of Oriskany Falls, brothers, Kevin (Pam) Bugbee, Steve (MaryAnne) Bugbee, all of North Brookfield; her beloved grandchildren, Savanna, Makayla, Alex, Abigail, Isabella and Emma; and great-granddaughter, Grace; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents, two brothers, Jerry and James Bugbee, and a sister, Norma Ramsdall. She also leaves behind her very best friend of over forty years, Virginia Wratten of North Brookfield, several close brother and sisters-in-law, and special nieces Vivian and Heather Munz of Hubbardsville. She was best known for her undying devotion, unconditional love, and compassion for her family, especially her treasured children and grandchildren. She was a fighter/survivor and raised money every year at the Relay for Life in Sauquoit, NY as part of Team Simmons.
Funeral services will be held at 11am Saturday, January 13, 2018 from the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, (Kloster & Northrop Memorial Chapel), 210 East Main St., Waterville.
Interment in the North Brookfield Cemetery will be at a later date.
Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Friday from 4-7pm.
