John Doroshenko, Sr., 83, of Swamp Rd., Morrisville, NY, passed away Sunday, September 24, 2017 at his home.
He was born July 28, 1934 in Brooklyn, NY, a son of Mike and Mary Karlik Doroshenko, and received his education in Morrisville schools. On December 23, 1954 in Maryland, he married Joyce Dickenson who predeceased him December 2009. On January 28, 1979, John married Dorothy Colvin Tucker in Peterboro NY. John worked for the Thermold Corp. in Manlius and Canastota as a supervisor until retiring with 38 years of service. Most recently, he worked at the Madison County Solid Waste Transfer Station in Cazenovia. John was a devoted Husband, Father, Son, Brother, Grandfather and Uncle that would do whatever he could to help his family and friends. He enjoyed being outdoors working with his hands in the fields or the woods. He also took great pleasure in attending local sporting events and school plays. He took great pride in his family and their accomplishments. John was a communicant of St. Joan of Arc Church in Morrisville.
Surviving are his wife, Dorothy; his children, John, Jr. and Linda Doroshenko of Bellingham, WA; Deborah and Sam Shay of Garner, NC; Gerald Doroshenko of Erieville; Paul and Barb Doroshenko of Morrisville; Cindy and Mike Bartlett of Erieville; Trish Baten of Morrisville and David Baten of Hamilton; James Doroshenko of Fuquay-Varina, NC; Penny McKinstry of Herkimer; Christopher and Nichole Doroshenko of Morrisville; step-children, Sam and Joel Green, Ruth and Ed Bort, all of Munnsville; Robert and Sherry Tucker of Erieville; Dorothy and Dwight Stevens of Georgetown; Roger Tucker and Deb Tucker of Munnsville; two sisters, Rosemary Doroshenko of Morrisville; Olga Risley of Deansboro; a brother and sister-in-law, Peter and Eunice Doroshenko of Morrisville; his friend Harold Dick of Morrisville; 28 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great grandchildren, 19 step-grandchildren, 45 step-great-grandchildren, 5 step great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, a brother and sister-in-law, Mike Doroshenko and Janice; brothers-in-law, Donald Risley and Ken Morgan; a step-daughter, Marilyn Tucker; daughters-in-law, Sherri (Craine) Doroshenko and Kim Doroshenko; a son-in-law, Frank McKinstry; grandchildren, Shannon Leah Doroshenko and Paul Edward Shay.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am Saturday, September 30, 2017 at St. Joan of Arc Church, Brookside Dr., Morrisville, followed by interment in the Morrisville Cemetery.
Friends are invited to call at the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 31 Cedar St., Morrisville on Friday from 4-7pm.
