Harriet E. Blackman, 96, of Pleasant Valley Rd., Peterboro, NY, passed away Saturday, February 11, 2017 at the Crouse Community Center in Morrisville.
She was born November 30, 1920 in the Town of Smithfield, the daughter of Harry M. and Grace Palmer Morris, and was a graduate of Morrisville-Eaton Central School. Harriet married Michael P. Baltusnik in October 1945 who predeceased her in November 1964. On August 25, 1973, she married Maurice E. Blackman in Peterboro. He predeceased her on March 2, 2002. Harriet was a homemaker and a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She also assisted Maurice at his grocery store in Morrisville.
She was a 61-year member of the Peterboro United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir, and was a member of the Thimble Club. She had also served on the Smithfield Election Board; was a member of the Peterboro Area Historical Society; and was the secretary and treasurer of the Peterboro Cemetery Association for many years.
Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and David Goff of Peterboro; a step-daughter, Jane Blackman of Carthage, NY; her beloved grandchildren, Michael and Richelle Goff of Auburn; Michelle and Brent Nolan of Knoxboro; her four precious great-grandchildren, Alfred and Liam Nolan, Karis and Zoe Goff; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Sandra E. Baltusnik, and a brother, Richard Morris.
Graveside services will be held in the Peterboro Cemetery at11am Saturday, April 22, 2017.
