Obituary for Anthony P. Zazzara

ANTHONY P. ZAZZARA

MORRISVILLE: Anthony P. Zazzara, 84, of Clover Hill Rd., passed away on Friday, January 13, 2017 at Community Memorial Hospital, Hamilton, NY. He was born November 10, 1932 in Lyons, NY, one of seven children of the late Peter and Irene Rago Zazzara. He graduated from Lyons High School; Ryder University and the University of Rochester. Anthony served his country in the US Army. On August 22, 1959 in Newark, NY he was united in marriage to the former Joan Petrus. The couple made their home in Morrisville for over 50 years. Mr. Zazzara started his teaching career at Rome Free Academy and later as a Professor at Morrisville State College until his retirement. He was a member of St. Joan of Arc Church, Morrisville. He had served as Eaton Town Supervisor; was charter member of the Smithfield Eaton Volunteer Ambulance Corps; a past member of the Morrisville Lions Club; the Elks Lodge, Oneida; the Masonic Lodge, Morrisville and a longtime member of the Seven Oaks Golf Course, Hamilton.
Surviving are his wife of over 57 years Joan; his children, Karen and Jeffrey Bombard of Tupper Lake, NY; Peter and Cindy Zazzara of Manlius, NY; Gregory and Hong Zazzara of San Jose, CA; Lynne Ann and Brian Sprinkle of Landenberg, PA; five grandchildren, Michael, Natalie, Greyson, Baden and Samantha and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service with military honors will be held on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at 2 PM from the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 31 Cedar St., Morrisville. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. Friends are invited and may call on Tuesday, from Noon to 2 PM prior to the service.
