Obituary for Barbara E. Vidler (Brown)

Barbara E. Vidler, 94, of Sherburne, NY, went to be with the Lord on March 1, 2016.
Barbara was born on November 19, 1921 in the Town of Plymouth, a daughter of Leon and Florence Warren Brown. She was a graduate of Sherburne High School. In 1941, Barbara married William J. Vidler, a union of over 63 years. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church of Norwich and the Fa Ho Lo group at the church.
Barbara’s greatest joy was her family who meant the world to her. She enjoyed the holidays and cooking for her family. She was an avid pitch player and passed the love of the game to her family. She loved to attend the sporting events her grandchildren and great-grandchildren participated in. She was a huge fan of the NY Yankees and SU men’s basketball. In her leisure time, she loved to bake and was known for her cookies and homemade fudge. She loved nature and the outdoors, and so enjoyed taking care of her flowers and bird watching.
Barbara was predeceased by her husband, William; two sisters, Edith Davis and Ethel Skinner; two grandchildren, Calvin Law and Amanda Vidler; two sisters-in-law, Virginia Brown and Betty Brown. She is survived by her children, Victor Vidler, Elizabeth and Richard Law, Frederick and Terri Vidler, Dale and Nancy Vidler, Joyce and Dana Wratten, Janice Briggs, Ronald and Martha Vidler, and David Vidler and fiancée, Pamela Periard; brothers, Warren Brown, Leon Brown and James Brown; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Edward and Betty Vidler; 17 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to call at the Calvary Baptist Church, Norwich, NY, on Monday, March 7, from 10am to 12pm, immediately followed by the worship service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Hospice of Chenango County, 23 Hayes St., Norwich, NY 13815; or to the Calvary Baptist Church, 75 Calvary Dr., Norwich, NY 13815.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne.
