Janice A. VanCourt, 72, of Morey Rd., Sherburne NY, passed away Thursday, October 15, 2015 at Chenango Memorial Hospital in Norwich.
She was born January 11, 1943 in Norwich, a daughter of Elmer and Marlene Bush Knochenmus and was a graduate of South New Berlin schools. On June 6, 1964, Janice married John VanCourt who predeceased her. She devoted most of her life to caring for her family. She also delivered the Binghamton Press for 17 years, and the Norwich Evening Sun for 11 years. Janice loved quilting, and enjoyed drawing, especially homes and horses.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Carol VanCourt of Norwich; Jeffery and Tammy VanCourt of Sherburne; sisters, Beverly and Robbin Knochenmus, both of Sherburne; a brother and sister-in-law, Dale and Terry Knochenmus of Sherburne; grandchildren, Kathy, Kimberly, Matthew and Jessica VanCourt, April VanCourt and her fiancé, Christopher Schroer; great-grandchildren, Maci, Rhyli, and Axel VanCourt; and Trista Newberry; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a brother, Mark Knochenmus, and a grandson, Allen VanCourt.
Funeral services will be held at 11am Tuesday, October 20, 2015 from the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne.
Interment will follow in the Unadilla Forks Cemetery at 3pm.
Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10-11am prior to the service.
