Edward H. Isley, 88, of Babbott Ave., Waterville, NY, passed away Saturday, June 21, 2014 at the Presbyterian Home in New Hartford, with his loving family at his side.
He was born January 12, 1926 in Utica, a son of Edward and Amelia Rothwell Isley and received his education in Oriskany Falls schools. He was a U.S. Navy veteran who proudly served his country in World War II and the Korean Conflict. On June 19, 1948, Edward married Shirley L. Davis in Oriskany Falls. They had a loving union of 64 years until she predeceased him on December 17, 2012. Edward had been a machinist for the Bendix Corp. in Utica until he retired in 1988.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Oriskany Falls. He was a 65 year and life member of the Kelley Phillips American Legion Post #569, of Oriskany Falls; a member and Past Master of the Alliance Lodge # 1097 F&AM of Oriskany Falls.
Surviving are his daughter and son-in-law, Cathryn and Richard Sommers of Oriskany Falls; a sister, Ruth Ann Smithey of Modesto, CA; two grandchildren, Christopher Strong of North Syracuse and Jennifer Scarlett of Floyd; three great-grandchildren, Matthew, Hannah and Dalton Scarlett; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Marion Lutz.
A memorial service will be held at 12 pm Tuesday, July 1, 2014 from the Kloster & Northrop Memorial Chapel at the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 210 E. Main St., Waterville.
Interment with military honors in the Waterville Cemetery will follow the service.
Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11am to 12pm prior to the service.
