Rosalie M. “Lena” Orlando, 101, of Spruce St., Utica, NY, passed away Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at her home.
She was born March 6, 1912 in Utica, a daughter of Vincent and Madeline Testa Pilato and received her education in Utica schools. On February 7, 1942, she married Samuel J. Orlando in Utica, a loving union of 49 years, before he predeceased her on April 27, 1991. Lena was a homemaker, and a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was of the Catholic faith.
Surviving are her children, Mary Jane and Frank Place, Alfonso and Jennifer Orlando, all of Utica; grandchildren, Rene and Andre Kallay, and their children, Kayla and Kristopher, New Hartford; Tracy and Pat Fiore, and their children, Antonia, Carl, Nina, Cristina, Samantha and Nicholas, Clifton Park; Marlo and Frank Ward and their son, Tyler, Utica; two beloved nieces, Marilyn Dovi and Rosann Rolchigo, both of Utica; and many other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters, Mary Passante and Jean Panaro Massarotti; and a brother, Charles Pilato.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am Saturday, January 18, 2014 at St. Mark’s Church, 440 Keyes Rd., Utica, NY.
The family will receive friends at the church at the conclusion of the Mass.
Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
