Shirley L. Isley, 85, of Babbott Ave., Waterville, NY passed away Monday, December 17, 2012 at the Presbyterian Home, New Hartford., with her loving family by her side.
She was born September 7, 1927 in Pittsburgh, PA, a daughter of Charles L. and Hazel A. Good Davis and received her education in local schools. On June 19, 1948, Shirley married Edward H. Isley in Oriskany Falls. They made their home in Waterville where she was a homemaker who devoted her life to her family. She was an avid Dodgers fan who enjoyed traveling to Vero Beach, FL to attend spring training games with her sisters for many years.
Shirley was a member of the United Methodist Church in Oriskany Falls, and a former member of the United Methodist Women. She was a 50+ year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Bell Tower #188 of Waterville.
Surviving are her husband of 64 years, Edward; her daughter and son-in-law, Cathryn and Richard Sommers of Oriskany Falls; a sister, Norma Jean Davis of Vero Beach, FL; two grandchildren, Christopher Strong of North Syracuse and Jennifer Scarlett of Floyd; three great-grandchildren, Matthew, Hannah and Dalton Scarlett; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters, Betty Sitts and Alida Rutherford.
A Memorial service will be held at 1pm Friday, December 21, 2012 from the Kloster-Northrop & Bentz Funeral Home, 210 E. Main St., Waterville.
Interment in the Waterville Cemetery will be private at the convenience of her family.
Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Friday from 11am to 1pm prior to the service.
