Leon R. Trudeau, 62, of Larkin Rd., Hubbardsville, NY, passed away Friday, September 23, 2011 at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center, Utica, NY.
He was born October 13, 1948 in Rome, NY, a son of Marie Trombly Trudeau and the late Onesime R. Trudeau. He received his early education in Rome Schools, and he was a graduate of Hamilton High School. Leon was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in the Vietnam Conflict. On March 15, 2000, he married Debra L. Brooks in Poolville NY. Leon was a splicer/technician for Frontier Communications. He had previously been an independent cable TV lineman, manager of the Grand Union grocery store, and the owner/operator of the Hubbardsville store. Leon was a fun-loving, energetic person who enjoyed dancing, hunting, cutting wood, riding motorcycles and volunteering his time to a worthy cause.
He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion, Post #236 of Earlville; and a member of the I.O.O.F. Tuscarora Lodge #669 of Hamilton.
Surviving are his wife, Debra; his mother, Marie Robinson of Hamilton; mother-in-law, Marcelle Brooks of Sherburne; children, Jessica and Mike Mitchell of Rochester; Joshua Trudeau and Sara of Clayville; Orren Trudeau and Liz of Buffalo; Olivia Trudeau and Jaime of Waterville; and Kimberlyn Dailey of Hubbardsville; sisters and brothers-in-law, Nancy Bulduc of NH; Donna and Sam McClure of Madison; Jan and Mike Hickey of Rome; Rose and Robert Cornelius of Oneida; a brother, Harry Trudeau of Hamilton; brother-in-law, Kenneth and Irene Brooks of Watertown; granddaughter, Hailee Mitchell; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He is also survived by his very dear friend Jorge Rodriguez of Sherburne.
Funeral services with military honors will be held at 1pm Monday, September 26, 2011 from the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 25 Broad St., Hamilton, NY.
Interment in the Graham Cemetery, Hubbardsville, will be private at the convenience of the family.
Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Sunday from 1-4 and 7-9pm. The Odd Fellows will conduct a service at 7pm.
