Gerald J. Cutway, 56, of Quarterline Rd., Hubbardsville, NY, passed away Saturday, July 9, 2011 at Upstate University Hospital, Syracuse.
He was born September 17, 1954 in Ogdensburg, a son of the late Gerald W. and Julia Adams Cutway and was a graduate of Hamilton High School. On February 8, 1998, Gerald married Pamela M. Foster in Brookfield. Gerald worked for Diversified Maintenance of Florida at the Price Chopper, Market Place location in the Town of Madison. He had previously worked for Stockbridge Valley and Hamilton Central Schools, as well as Oliveri’s Pizzeria in Hamilton. He enjoyed various other occupations over the years, including tractor trailer driving. Gerald’s favorite times were the ones spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and his nieces and nephews. He loved animals and tinkering around the house.
Surviving are his wife, Pamela; a son, Justin Cutway and Jodi of Cortland; step-children, Derrick Lawrence of Hubbardsville; Dannie and April Lawrence of Waterville; mother-in-law, Maronetta Foster of Utica; sisters and brothers-in-law, Jean Ponton and Bill of Earlville; Honey Sexton of Sherrill; Catherine and Dale Crumb of Hubbardsville; Mary and Jimmy Williams of Verona; Judy and Bob Utter of Vernon; Pam and Jim Clements of Oriskany Falls; brothers and sisters-in-law, Norman and Geri Cutway of York, SC; Bill and Jill Cutway of Sugerland, TX; Joe and Chris Cutway of York, SC; three grandchildren, Ryan Cutway, Tyler Hocking and Robert Lawrence; an aunt, Doris Adams of Bridgeport, CT; his in-laws, Howard and Trudi Foster of Bridgewater; Philip and Michele Foster of Herkimer; Patricia and Ron Hocking of Ilion; Phyllis and Ed Patterson of Cassville and Penny Dennis of Waterville. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews and cousins, as well as his favorite canine companion, Gismo. Gerald was predeceased by a step-son, Christopher R. Hocking on 10/22/2010; his father-in-law, Howard Foster; and three brothers-in-law, Harley Foster, Rex James and Jay Ponton.
Funeral services will be held at 11am Friday, July 15, 2011 from the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 25 Broad St., Hamilton.
Interment will be at the convenience of the family in St. Helena’s Cemetery, Oneida.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 3-7 pm.
