Eloise M. Nourse, 85, of McCabe Rd., Waterville, NY, passed away Monday, May 2, 2011 at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center, Utica, with her family at her side.
She was born March 1, 1926 in Nelson, a daughter of Burdette and Iva Brown Putman and received her education in Cazenovia and Hamilton schools. On May 18, 1942, Eloise married Rush A. Nourse in DeRuyter. He predeceased her on April 13, 1992. Eloise dedicated her life to making a loving and comfortable home for her family while also assisting her husband on the family farm. Her greatest joy was to be surrounded by her family. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and reading, and loved animals, especially dogs and horses.
Surviving are her children, Earl and Sylvia Nourse of Erieville; LeRoy Nourse of Eaton; Laurie and Robert Bishton of Waterville; and Roger Nourse of West Eaton; grandchildren, Susan and Todd Ferguson of Alpine, NY; Adam and Elsa Nourse of Midlothian, VA; Aaron and Charlene Nourse of Morrisville; Tiffany and Luke Rivenburgh of Euless, TX; Erica Nourse of Rochester; Jennifer and John MacKenzie of Oneida; Taylor Bishton and Tanner Bishton, both of Waterville; Adam Bishton of Madison; Elizabeth Bishton of Cooperstown; Melanie Nourse of Morrisville; 9 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Doris Ferris of East Syracuse; brother-in-law, Robert Nourse of Poolville and several nieces and nephews. Also surviving is her former daughter-in-law, Beckie North of Hamilton; her best friend Patricia Anthony of Erieville; and her canine companion, Oscar. She was precdeceased by her sister, Marian Nourse, and two brothers, Franklin and Charles Putman.
Friends are invited to call at the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 31 Cedar St., Morrisville on Thursday, May 5, 2011 from 4-7pm, followed by a short prayer service.
Graveside services will be held at 10am Saturday, June 4, 2011 in the Evergreen Cemetery, Cazenovia.
