Gordon “Jasper” Orendorff, 82, of Route 12, Waterville, NY, passed away Saturday, June 23, 2012 at the home of his son Gary.
He was born January 13, 1930 in Utica, a son of the late Harvey and Margaret Kelly Orendorff and received his education in Waterville schools. Gordon served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953 during the Korean Conflict. On January 15, 1954, Gordon married Doris M. Ruble in East Hamilton. She predeceased him in October 1987. After leaving the service, Gordon worked for Chicago Pneumatic for a short time. From 1958 until 1965, he was a dairy farmer on property purchased from the Clarks. He was on the New York State work force for a few years before joining Lilly White Sales (later Chesebrough-Ponds) in Oriskany Falls until his retirement. Jasper’s greatest pleasure came from farming which he enjoyed his entire life, raising various animals and birds, including ducks, geese, goats, pigs, cows and horses, until his health failed. He also tended his large garden and greenhouse, and enjoyed fishing, especially after his retirement. He was a former member of the American Legion.
Surviving are his children, Gary and Elizabeth Orendorff of Waterville; Carl Orendorff of Waterville; Janet Orendorff and Barney Buell of Deansboro; Jack and Charleen Orendorff of Edmeston; Louann and Kevin Bellair of Waterville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Paul “Pete” and Barbara Orendorff of Owego; Daniel and Darlene Orndorf of Topeka, KS; 9 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Lawrence; a sister, Virginia Kenyon; and a brother, Harvey Orendorff, Jr.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm Thursday, June 28, 2012 from the Kloster-Northrop & Bentz Funeral Home, 210 E. Main St., Waterville, followed by interment with military honors in the Stockwell Cemetery.
Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5-8pm.

Gordon’s family is especially grateful to his daughter-in-law, Elizabeth, daughter Janet, and his close friend, Robyn Stetson. They also want to thank Ann Lindsay from Hospice, and Dr. Chabot for their wonderful care during his illness.
