Leo E. Barnes, 94, of East Bacon St., Waterville, NY, passed away Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at the Harding Nursing Home in Waterville.
He was born June 20, 1917 in Hubbardsville, a son of Francis E. and Anna Manion Barnes and received his education in Sangerfield and Waterville schools. On November 7, 1955, Leo married Veronica T. Ross in Syracuse who predeceased him. Leo was a dairy farmer on his family farm in Sangerfield for many years until retiring in 1990. He was a communicant of St. Bernard’s Church in Waterville.
Surviving are a sister, Marion E. Barnes of Waterville; a sister-in-law, Pauline Barnes of Waterville; many nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Seymour and Kenneth Barnes.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am Monday, May 21, 2012 from St. Bernard’s Church, 199 Stafford Ave., Waterville, followed by interment in St. Bernard’s Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church on Monday from 10am until 11 am prior to the Mass.
Contributions in his memory may be made to St. Bernard’s Church.
