OBITUARY
ALAN J. TOUSSAINT
WATERVILLE: Alan J. Toussaint, 72, of Sanger Ave., went to be with his Lord on Friday, January 13, 2012 at Community Memorial Hospital in Hamilton.
He was born January 31, 1939 to Katherine and Harold Toussaint. In 1957 he and Mary Jane Crooks were joined in marriage and had three beautiful children. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather to his adored family.
He was a very successful businessman and he and Mary Jane ran Sunny Brook Orchard. They then acquired the Waterville Bowling Center and ran that for 24 years. Al was a successful real estate agent for a few years before working as a courier for Corporate Express, retiring in 2001. Following his retirement, he enjoyed working on his home and driving his antique cars. He was a member of the Ford V8 Club and the Waterville Historical Society.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Jane; his children, Michael Toussaint and his twin boys, Branden and Ryan of AZ; Janine Jaquays and Dan Eisenhut of Waterville, and her children, Jarrod, Monica and Taylor Jaquays, and a special great-granddaughter, Madilyn, who brightened his days; Laurie Toussaint of Waterville, and her son, John; a brother, Robert Toussaint, of Albany; and a sister-in-law, Patricia Toussaint of Utica; and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his good friends from the coffee shop, Kas, Bill, Martin and Carter. He was predeceased by a brother, Harold Toussaint.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am Tuesday, January 17, 2012 from St. Bernard’s Church, Stafford Ave., Waterville.
Interment in St. Bernard’s cemetery will be made in the spring.
Friends are invited to call at the Kloster-Northrop & Bentz Funeral Home, 210 East Main St., Waterville on Monday from 5-8pm.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Waterville Ambulance Corps.
