Obituary for Goldie M. Thompson
Goldie Mae Thompson, 81, of County Rd. 21, Smyrna, NY, passed away Sunday, January 13, 2019 at the Norwich Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.
She was born May 5, 1937 in Otselic, NY, and was a graduate of Sherburne-Earlville High School. Goldie had worked at the Norwich Shoe Factory, and later as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Chenango Memorial Hospital for many years until retiring in 2002. Her hobbies included reading, especially romance novels, and crocheting hats and gloves for needy families in the area.
She was a member of the Canasawacta Valley Free Methodist Church in Norwich.
Surviving are a sister, Alice Davis of Smyrna; several nieces and a nephew. She was predeceased by a sister, Helen Oppermann.
Graveside services will be held in the spring at the Plymouth Southside Cemetery.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne, NY.
