Obituary for Ann Elizabeth Cunningham (Dromgoole)

Ann Elizabeth Dromgoole Cunningham, 95, lifelong Sherburne, NY resident, passed away Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at her home with her loving family at her side.
She was born May 31, 1923 in Sherburne, a daughter of Leo and Agnes Daniels Dromgoole and was a graduate of Sherburne High School. On November 6, 1946, Ann was united in marriage to Joseph O’Connor Cunningham at St. Malachy’s Church in Sherburne, a loving union of more than 64 years until Joe predeceased her on May 24, 2011. Ann was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who delighted in holidays, especially Christmas, spent with family. Ann ran a general store in Lebanon in the 1940s and worked for a number of years at Frair’s in Norwich. She and Joe also contracted with several school systems to transport disabled children to and from school. Ann was a lifelong Democrat and proud to have voted in every election, including this past November. She also worked on the election board for more than 50 years.
Ann was a communicant of St. Malachy’s Church in Sherburne and a member of the Altar and Rosary Society for more than 70 years. She enjoyed bowling at Plaza Lanes in Norwich for many years and delighted in long rides throughout Chenango County and stopping for ice cream along the way.
Surviving are her children, JoAnn and Dennis Harrod of Cazenovia; Julia and Daniel Wagner of Murrells Inlet, SC; Joseph and Mary Cunningham of Manlius; Jeremiah and Margaret Cunningham of Ashburn, VA; beloved grandchildren, Nathan (Carolyn) Reid, Andrew Reid, Julia and Anna Harrod, Jeremiah, Jessica, Connor, Abigail and Matthew Cunningham; cherished great-grandchildren, Connor, Cullen and Brinley Reid; a sister, Florence Dromgoole of Sherburne; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by an infant daughter, Elizabeth; a brother, Henry Dromgoole; sisters, Lora Dromgoole, Winifred Dromgoole, Ruth Annesi, Mary Wynn and Joan Vining.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am Saturday, January 12, 2019 at St. Malachy’s Church, Sherburne, followed by a luncheon in the church hall.
Interment will be in St. Malachy’s Cemetery in the spring.
Friends are invited to call at the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
The rosary will be recited at 1:45 p.m.
