Obituary for Everette Charles Armstrong Jr.

Everette Charles Armstrong, Jr., 71, of East Main St., Morrisville, NY, passed away Monday December 3, 2018 at SUNY Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse, NY,
He was born on December 16, 1946 in Rome, NY, a son of Everette C., Sr. and Elizabeth Slocum Armstrong. He was a graduate of St. Louis High School in Honolulu, Hawaii. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps. in January 1965, proudly serving his country until his honorable discharge as a Sergeant in April 1976. During that time, he saw combat in Vietnam and received the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry, the Vietnam Service Medal with 2 Stars and several other medal and ribbons. He had also served as HMX1 Presidential Honor Guard. On March 17, 1966, Everette married Rachael House in Oceanside, CA. Everette had worked for Conrail in Syracuse and, later for the U.S. Post Office in Syracuse and Canastota until retiring in 2011. He was an avid fan of the NY Yankees, enjoyed bowling and motorcycling. He was also an excellent carpenter.
Everette was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Rome. He was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans and manned a donation booth at the NY State Fair on their behalf. He was a member of the Morrisville Fire Department and an honorary member of the Smithfield Fire Department. He was a member of the V.F.W. in Rome; the Marine Corps. League in Herkimer; and the North American 40 Plus Touring Bikers Eastern Division.
Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Rachael; a son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Diane Armstrong of Earlville; granddaughter, Liesa Armstrong of Morrisville; two sisters, Lori Senior of Camden; and Kathy Schultz of Westmoreland; a sister-in-law, Linda Coffin Armstrong of Rome; his special family and friends, especially his niece, Karly. He was predeceased by a daughter, Leisa, a son, Jack and two brothers, Barry and Dale.
Funeral services with military honors will be held at 11:30am Saturday, December 8, 2018 at the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 31 Cedar St., Morrisville.
Spring interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Lee, NY.
Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9pm.
