Print
BOUCKVILLE: Aubrey F. “Spike” Alberding, III, 61, of Leland Pond, passed away unexpectedly on November 22, 2018 at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Utica.
He was born on November 15, 1957 in Albany, NY, a son of Aubrey, Jr. and Helen Ellis Alberding and was a graduate of Oriskany Falls High School. He had a diversified work record as a heavy equipment operator in Florida for 5 years; in the maintenance department at U.S. Airlines for 10 years; at Tuckers IGA; Ames Department Store, and most recently at Hanson Aggregates in Oriskany Falls. Spike’s true love was living on Leland Pond where he enjoyed cruising with friends on his party barge named fondly “Party Animal”, feeding the deer from his apple tree, and enjoying the sunset with a cold one. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and a NASCAR fan. He will be remembered by those that loved him most for his easy-going personality, contagious smile, his laughter that would fill up any room, and his endless sense of humor. He was dedicated to the things and people he loved and would do anything for them. He will always fondly be remembered as “Uncle Spike”, “Uncle Aub” and the “Mayor of Leland’s Pond”. He will be painfully and greatly missed by his family and all those that knew him best.
He was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Church in Oriskany Falls and a member of the Leland Pond Association.
Surviving are his parents, Aubrey and Helen Alberding of Oriskany Falls; sisters, Terrie (Randall) Slocum, Debra Alberding (Michael Way), all of Oriskany Falls; Cathy Alberding of Waterville; beloved nieces Molly Way, Anastasia and Elizabeth Slocum; and nephews Robert, Toren, Jacob and John Slocum, all of Oriskany Falls. He is also survived by his best friends and favorite partners in crime, Keith Benedict and Polly Belfield of Deansboro, as well as his many friends at the quarry. He was predeceased by his beloved canine companion, Bear whom he will be laid to rest with.
In keeping with his wishes, there will be no services or calling hours.
Because of his love of animals, his family has requested donations in his memory please be made to Spring Farm Cares, 3364 Route 12, Clinton, NY 13323, www.springfarmcares.org.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Homes, Inc., 210 E. Main St., Waterville, NY 13346.
