Richard C. Lagoe, 91, of Sherburne, NY, died November 13, 2018 at the NYS Veterans Home in Oxford, NY.
Richard was born in Oswego, NY, on March 14, 1927 to Harold and Mildred Thurow Lagoe. He was happily married to his wife, Patricia for 72 years.
Richard began his career serving in the U.S. Army in WWII. He then went on to become an Industrial Arts Teacher and started a floral business, Lagoe and Sons. He later became Superintendent of Schools at Otselic Valley Central School and then at Sherburne-Earlville Central School District. After his retirement, he became president of the New York State Retired Teachers Association.
Richard was predeceased by three children, Michael Lagoe, Martin Lagoe, and Marge Phillips. He is survived by his wife, Patricia; children, Mary (Robert) Robinson of PA; Meg (Michael) McLaughlin of Oswego, NY; Matthew (Brenda) Lagoe of Sherburne, NY; Miki (David Gantt) Pacilio of Sherburne, NY; 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Richard’s life will be held at 11am on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at St. Malachy’s Church in Sherburne, NY.
There are no calling hours.
Interment with military honors will be in the spring at St. Malachy’s Cemetery.
Contributions in his memory may be made to the American Legion Post #876, South Main St., Sherburne, NY 13460.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne, NY.
