Obituary for Robert J. "Bob" Wilkinson

Robert J. Wilkinson, 74, of Morrisville, NY passed away October 26, 2018.
Born in Oneida, NY, he was the son of Newell Earl and Carolyn Louise (Howard) Wilkinson. Having grown up on a dairy farm in Pleasant Valley, he moved to the village of Morrisville where he lived his entire adult married life.
After graduating from Morrisville-Eaton class of 1963, Bob went on to join the US Navy as an electrician. He served 4 years on the USS Boxer during the Vietnam War. He also served 4 years with the US Air National Guard as a carpenter. Bob was a past member of the Morrisville Fire Department and the American Legion Post #163.
He married Amy Suits on December 19, 1964 in Morrisville, and together they had and raised 2 children. Bob worked as a general contractor for a living and also drove school bus for MECS. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing golf and spending time with his friends playing a casual game of cards from time to time.
Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Amy; daughter Donna Wilkinson (William Percival) of Canastota; son, James Wilkinson (Suzan Gray) of Bouckville; 2 grandsons, Shaun Ginney and Eric Ginney, a granddaughter Nikki Gray; a great-grandson, Blake Ginney; 2 sisters, Deanna (James) Moyes of Lubbock, TX and Norma Galbreath of Morrisville; brother, Howard (Edna) Wilkinson of Oneida; brothers-in-law, William (Linda) Suits of Inwood, WV and David Holbert of Morrisville; many nieces, nephews, great-and great-great-nieces and -nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, step-father, Harold Gill; sister, Marie Gerhardt; brother-in-law, John Galbreath; nephew, Jeffrey Galbreath, mother and father-in-law, Thirza and Jerome Suits, brother-in-law, Robert Suits and sister-in-law, Jo Ann Holbert.
A Memorial Service and celebration of his life will be held at 11am Saturday, November 3, 2018 at the Morrisville Community Church, Swamp Rd., Morrisville.
Burial will be at a later date.
