: Barbara Colby Jones, 88, of Madison Lane, Hamilton, NY, passed away Sunday, September 30, 2018 at Crouse Hospital in Syracuse.
She was born July 24, 1930 in Hempstead, LI, NY. She was a graduate of local schools and Barnard College at Columbia University. She had been a personal secretary for Mr. Firestone at Firestone, Inc. in NYC, later working for Doubleday Publishing in Garden City, NY, and then for Construction Industrial Services, Inc. (CISCO), in Mineola NY until retiring. Barbara was a voracious reader and book collector. She always presented a ladylike demeanor and enjoyed walking around town talking to people. She was also an amazing correspondent.
Barbara was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Hamilton, attending Mass daily.
She is survived by a cousin, Cordelia St. Jean of Ohio, her church community and close friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2pm Wednesday, October 10, 2018 in the community room at Madison Lane, followed by interment in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Hamilton.
