Marjorie K. Carmichael, 89, of Deansboro, NY, passed away Sunday, September 16, 2018 at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Utica.
She was born October 30, 1928 in Oriskany Falls, NY a daughter of Fred G. and Marye A. Matteson King. She was a 1946 graduate of Waterville Central School and received her LPN degree from St. Petersburg School of Nursing in Florida. She pursued her nursing career wherever she resided in Mississippi, Missouri and for Dr. Ted Niewenhouse in Brawley, CA. Marjorie married Daniel P. Carmichael in Big Bear, CA who predeceased her on October 3, 1998. Moving back to New York in 2000, Marjorie became very involved in her community. She was a member of the Madison United Methodist Church; the O.E.S. Bell Tower Chapter #188; the Pleasant Valley Grange in Waterville; the Madison Historical Society, the Madison Senior Citizens and the Oriska Valley Senior Citizens. She was also a member of the AARP. Marjorie loved to read. She enjoyed listening to music, dancing and baking.
Surviving are a daughter, Lynda Gwilt of Deansboro; three step-daughters, Brooke and Rob Lytle, Jill and Blair Randall and Robin, all of CA; a sister, Edith Mistler of CA; two grandchildren, Felicia Tice of Little Falls; Olivia Shauger and John Foster of Madison; a son-in-law, Michael Michaud of Madison; nine step-grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Kathryn Michaud; a son-in-law, James Gwilt; and two sisters, Carolyn Lewis and Amy Merriman.
Memorial Services will be held at 11am Saturday, September 22, 2018 at the Madison United Methodist Church, followed by interment in Waterville Cemetery.
