Judith A. “Judy” Matteson, 71, of Waterville, passed away Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at the Waterville Residential Care Center.
She was born July 28, 1947 in Utica, NY a daughter of Theodore and
Katherine Lewis Genske and was a graduate of Madison High School. She had worked as a nurse’s aide at Harding Nursing Home in Waterville for 23 years until retiring in 2015. Judy was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose family was the light of her life. She was of the Catholic faith. She and former husband Robert Matteson had three children together.
Surviving are her children, Kimberly and Joseph Gizzi, Kelly Aylesworth (Tony Amodio), all of Poland, NY; and Kyle Bishop of North Syracuse; grandchildren, Danielle Gizzi (Chris Salm), Kristen Gizzi, Johnathan and Christina Aylesworth; Brittany Potter (Adam Lawson); and Shalynn Bishop; great-grandchildren, Geovanni, Hailey, Evan, Abigail and Nicholas; and a sister, Sharon Genske of Madison. Also surviving are many dear friends, especially Joan Crawford and Ruth Bridge. She was predeceased by a brother, Donald Genske.
Friends are invited to call at the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home (Kloster & Northrop Memorial Chapel) 210 E. Main St., Waterville from 5-7pm Friday, September 14, 2018 followed by a prayer service at 7pm.
