EARLVILLE: Charles L. Crandall, 89, of Taylor Ave., passed away Friday, July 13, 2018 at the Valley View Manor Nursing Home in Norwich.
He was born July 23, 1928 in Sherburne, NY. He was raised in Norwich where he received his education in local schools. Charlie proudly served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was honorably discharged in 1948. On February 11, 1950, he married Helen Colleen Carnrike in Norwich. Charlie was a mechanic who owned and operated Charlie’s Garage in Earlville until retiring. He loved fishing, roller skating, motorcycles, and watching NASCAR.
Surviving are his wife, Colleen; his children, Sharan Brown of Sherburne; Charles and Beate Crandall of Sherburne; Christine Crandall and Betty Warren of Casa Grande, AZ; Helen Mowers of Earlville; David and Marcia Crandall of Edmeston; and Darryl Crandall of Plainsville, GA; and sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Amos Doupe of Norwich; sister-in-law, Joyce Barrows of Oxford; brother-in-law, John Aldridge of Norwich; eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father and step-mother, Clifford and Catherine Crandall; a sister, Connie Aldridge and a brother, Clifford Crandall.
Graveside services with military honors will be held at West Hill Cemetery, Sherburne, on Monday, July 23, 2018 at 11am.
