Deborah D.  Shay (Doroshenko)
Deborah Doroshenko Shay, 62, of Garner, NC, formerly of Morrisville, NY passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2018.
Deborah was born in Madison County, New York on February 26, 1956 to the late John Doroshenko, Sr. and Joyce D. Doroshenko. She was raised and lived half of her life in Morrisville, New York. She married her beloved husband, Samson and together they raised a large and loving family which included her natural and “adopted” children. Deborah was the matriarch of her family and a perpetual caregiver. She enjoyed many pastimes which included bowling, traveling to the beach, and any time simply spent with her family.
Her love for family was only surpassed by her love for the Lord. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Garner. Deborah has spent the last 20 years in North Carolina where she and Samson have formed many bonds with friends and neighbors. This devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend will be dearly missed by all in the days ahead.
In addition to her parents, Deborah was preceded in death by a son, Paul Edward Shay; brother-in-law, Frank McKinstry; and sister-in-law, Kim Doroshenko.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory a loving family which includes her husband of 43 years, Samson L. Shay; daughter, Kim Wallace and husband, Kenny of Garner, NC; sons, Michael Shay and wife, Melissa of McMinnville, TN, Justin Shay and wife, Kimberly of Fuquay-Varina, NC; step-mother, Dorothy Doroshenko of Morrisville, NY; step-father, Harold Dick of Morrisville, NY; grandchildren, Kassiedee Wallace, Kaycee Wallace, Keylee Wallace, Brittany Loftis, Crue Shay and wife, Hannah, Samson Shay, Austin Shay, Julianna Chriss, Lukas Shay, Logan Shay; great grandchildren, Jaclyn Farley, Hadlyn Farley, Allison Lee, Adyson Shay, Gabriella Shay, Clint Cantrell, Kora Shay, Charlotte Shay; sisters, Cindy Bartlett and husband, Mike of Erieville, NY, Trish Baten of Morrisville, NY, Penny McKinstry of Morrisville, NY; brothers, John Doroshenko, Jr. and wife, Linda of Bellingham, WA, Jerry Doroshenko of Erieville, NY; Paul Doroshenko and wife, Barb of Morrisville, NY, Jim Doroshenko of Fuquay-Varina, NC, Chris Doroshenko and wife, Nikki of Morrisville, NY; close nieces, Nicole Klein and husband, D.J. and their children, Madyson Jones, Elijah Klein, Ken Ken Klein, and Ashley Doroshenko and her daughter, Emma Doroshenko; and a host of extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10am Monday, July 16, 2018 at the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 31 Cedar St., Morrisville, followed by interment in the Morrisville Cemetery.
Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Sunday from 1-3pm. The family will also greet friends at the home of Chris Doroshenko following the calling hours.
