Obituary for Doris Marie Carr (Godfrey)

Doris Marie Carr, 92, of Hamilton, NY, passed away Monday, June 11, 2018 at her home.
She was born March 24, 1926 in Utica, NY, one of seven children of Leo and Grace DuPont Godfrey and was a graduate of Hamilton High School. On March 23, 1947, Doris married William “Bill” E. Carr in Hamilton. He predeceased her on September 17,1998. Doris was a homemaker and had worked for her husband’s business, Ken’s Dry Cleaners in Hamilton. She had also worked at Chesebrough Ponds in Sherburne at one time. She enjoyed knitting and cooking.
Doris was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hamilton. She was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Surviving are her children, William E., III and Susan Carr of Syracuse; Linda Foster of Hamilton; daughter-in-law, Denise Carr of North Brookfield; grandchildren, John Charles Carr, II of North Brookfield and Andrew Lawrence Foster of Lynchburg, VA; great-grandchildren, Ariana, Gabe, Hannah and Maya; step-grandchildren, Katie Plaza, Amy and Josh Butters, and Chrissy Lewis. She was predeceased by a son, John Carr, a son-in-law, Raymond Fisher; three sisters and three brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm Thursday, June 14, 2018 at the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 25 Broad St., Hamilton, followed by interment in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Hamilton.
Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Thursday from Noon to 2pm prior to the service.
Contributions in her memory may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, CNY Chapter, 731 James St., #408, Syracuse, NY 13203.
