Clifford J. Smith, 86, of Bradley Brook Rd., Eaton, NY, passed away Friday, June 8, 2018 at the Crouse Community Center in Morrisville.
He was born September 30, 1931 in the Town of Nelson, a son of James Clifford and Millicent Jones Smith and was a graduate of Morrisville-Eaton High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served from 1955 to 1957. On December 14, 1980, Clifford married Marie A. Morgan in Eaton. Cliff had worked as a rural mail carrier in Eaton, and in the heating plant at SUNY Morrisville before joining the NYS Department of Corrections where he retired from Camp Georgetown in 1993. He was also a builder of houses, barns and milk plants.
Surviving are his wife, Marie; his children, James Clifford (Karen) Smith of Liverpool; and Barb Smith of Eaton; step-children, Carl (Chie) Wolicki of Earlville; Jason Wolicki of Morrisville; Jackson (Kelly) Sterle, Debbie (Bruce) Hirsch, all of Eaton; and the many kids that he provided a home for over the years. Also surviving are his sister, Darlene Mennig of Eaton; nine grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, Donald (Marla) Brown. He was predeceased by two brothers, Donald and Alfred Smith, and two sisters, Pauline Brown and Christine Pratt.
In keeping with his wishes, there are no services or calling hours.
