LeRoy V. Harney

October 13, 1942 – May 24, 2018

LeRoy V. Harney, 75, of Oriskany Falls, passed away, Thursday May 24, 2018 at his home. He was born in Knoxboro on October 13, 1942 a son of the late Charles H. and Carrie E. Gaut Harney and received his education in local schools. On August 17, 1968 in Oriskany Falls he married the former Georgia C. Moon. He worked for several years for his brother-in-law Sam Kitchen, and brother Jim Harney on their farms, before going to work for Eastern Rock (Hanson Aggregates), Oriskany Falls. He retired with over 27 years of service. LeRoy enjoyed woodworking and construction, he gutted and totally re-built his family’s home.
Surviving are his wife, Georgia; three sons and two daughters-in-law, LeRoy, Jr. and Lynn Harney of Sauquoit, Scott and Corinne Harney of Waterville, Terry Harney of Oriskany Falls; two sisters, Esther Kitchen of Vernon, Charlene Bugbee of Clark Mills; two brothers and two sisters-in-law, Robert and Gloria Harney of Rome, Fay Harney of Knoxboro, Monica Harney of Sacramento, CA; 8 grandchildren, Ian, Austin, Alexis, Tabitha, Hannah, Korbin, Tessa, Karissa; two great-grandchildren, Violet and Wade, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by four brothers, Eugene, Jim, Halsey and John (Jack) Harney and two sisters, Alida Odit and Bessie Babcock.
Interment will be private in Hillside Cemetery, Oriskany Falls.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of LeRoy’s Life on Saturday, June 2, 2018 from 1 to 3 pm at the American Legion, Kelley-Phillips Post # 569, located at 115 Madison St., Oriskany Falls, NY.
