Obituary for Helen I. Cramphin (Mennig)

: Helen I. Mennig Cramphin, 103, of Eaton, passed away Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at the Waterville Residential Care Center.
She was born May 2, 1914 in Waterville, a daughter of Albert and Mary Shelton Mennig and attended Morrisville schools. On August 12, 1937, Helen married Eugene Cramphin in Morrisville. He predeceased her on August 4, 1995. A lifelong Eaton area resident, Helen had worked at Sautter’s Diner in Morrisville and the Nelson Inn. She had also been a correspondent for the Mid York Press for many years. She was a member and Past Noble Grand of the Willow Glen Rebekah Lodge #158 of Eaton.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Margaret “Peggy” and Tom Czyznikiewicz of Eaton: a daughter-in-law, Kitty Cramphin of WV; sister, Louise Warner of Munnsville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Carl Mennig of Munnsville, Eugene and Carolyn Mennig of FL; Darlene Mennig of West Eaton; Shirley Mennig of Peterboro; Barbara Mennig of Munnsville; and Helen Mennig of Peterboro; a grandson and his wife, Christopher and Renee Cramphin of WV; several great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews, including a nephew and his wife, Carl and Judy Cramphin of Eaton. She was predeceased by a son, Robert Cramphin in 2017; her brothers, Frederick, Frank, Harold, Lawrence, Virgil, Albert, Kenneth, Louis and Donald Mennig; and sisters, Mildred Sternberg and Gertrude Colvin.
Friends are invited to call at the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 31 Cedar St., Morrisville, NY on Sunday, March 11, 2018 from 2-4pm.
Graveside services will be held in the Eaton Village Cemetery in the spring.
