Obituary for Pete G. Gridley

Pete G. Gridley, 57, of Pickett Rd., passed away Friday, February 16, 2018 at University Hospital SUNY Health Science Center, Syracuse. He was born In Norwich on February 17, 1960, a son of the late Gaylord G. and Laurena Alta Murray Gridley and received his education in Waterville Schools. On August 29, 1981 in Waterville he was united in marriage to Lorrie J. Staring. Pete was employed by the Town of Madison Highway Department for over 23 years. Pete could fix anything, especially if it had a motor. He enjoyed the outdoors, either working in his vegetable garden, fishing, hunting camping or just sitting by a fire. One of Pete’s greatest joy besides his family, was the Christmas holiday, he would often dress up as Santa and loved to give out gifts, even if it meant him going without.

Surviving are his wife Lorrie and kids. Michael and Kayla Gridley and Thomas and Maegan Gridley of Waterville; his grandchildren, Cassidy, Chloe, Dylan, Ella and Alainna. His mother in law, Lovina staring of Waterville; his siblings, Sandra and Pete McCarthy of Norwich, Robin Eastman and Dan Weaver and Gaylord and Lori Gridley all of Waterville. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews and cousins and his lifelong best friend, Uncle Mike Daley of Madison.

Services will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at 2:00 pm in the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, (Kloster & Northrop Memorial Chapel), 201 E. Main St., Waterville. Friends are invited to pay their respects on Saturday from Noon to 2:00 pm prior to the service. All are welcome to join us following the service at the Sangerfield Legion from 3pm-till.
