Walter C. McCullough, Sr., 77, of Rottamore Rd., Munnsville, NY, passed away in his home on Tuesday, January 30, 2018.
He was born May 10, 1940 in Clinton, PA, one of nine children of Frank McCullough and Helen Betonte and received his education in Clinton schools. On May 29, 1958, Walter married Kathlene M. Black in Virginia Beach, VA. They lived in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Florida and North Carolina before moving to New York a year ago. Walter was a structural iron worker with the Iron Workers Union Local #3 of Pittsburgh, PA, and Local #808 of Orlando, FL. Walter was an amazing woodworker. His favorite times were those spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Walter attended the New Beginnings Community Church in Wampsville, NY, and was a member of First Baptist Church of Davenport, FL. He was a member of the F&AM Masonic Lodge #669 in Oakdale, PA.
Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Kate; his children, Deborah and Greg Wilson, Cindy and James Marshall of Munnsville; Kathy Jo Laughlin of Petersburgh, OH; Janet and Andrew Olney of Morrisville; Walter, III and Lyn McCullough of Pikeville, NC; Matthew and Stephanie McCullough of Fleming Island, FL; a sister, Martha Masengill of Detroit, MI; a brother, Chester Winters of Sierra Vista, AZ; 20 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers Thomas, Harold, Jesse, Paul; sisters Barbara and Alma Dora; and a son-in-law, Guy Laughlin.
In keeping with Walter’s wishes, there are no services or calling hours.
Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
