Obituary for Doris L. Briggs (Perry)

Doris Briggs, a resident at Harding Nursing Home, went to be with the Lord on January 16, 2018, at the age of 93.
Doris was the daughter of the late Ray & Grace (Shaw) Perry. She grew up in New Woodstock, NY with seven sisters and three brothers, and attended New Woodstock High School. She met her husband Alden Briggs in Norwich, and they were married on February 19, 1949. They lived on the family farm in Earlville, NY with their three children and were happily married for 39 years, until Alden’s death in 1988. Doris was a member of the Randallsville New Life church and was very active in the Rebekah Lodge. She worked at Community Memorial Hospital, in the dietary department, for 26 years and was an employee at the Norwich Knitting Company for six years prior to that. Doris loved playing BINGO, knitting & crocheting, doing word search puzzles, cross stitch, and visiting with family & friends.
She leaves behind two sons, John of Anchorage, AK and Lauren (Roberta) Briggs, of Hamilton, NY; one daughter, Mary Briggs, of Earlville, NY; four granddaughters, Jennifer Briggs, of Hamilton, Lynette (Seth) Montgomery, of Cortland, NY, Janet Briggs, of Munnsville, NY, Christy Gilbert, of Los Angeles, CA; and three great-granddaughters, Haley Montgomery, Lauren Peters, Morgan Moran; one great-great granddaughter, Willow Grace Moran; one sister, Winnie Martin of Myerstown, PA; one brother, Harmon Perry of New Woodstock, NY, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband; parents; sisters June, Florence, Alma, Mary, Bev, Della; brothers, DeVer, Herb.
Calling hours will be held at Randallsville New Life Church on Saturday, January 20, 2018 from 12pm-2pm, with funeral services following.
