Cynthia E. Barker, 74, of Utica, formerly of Poolville and Lebanon, passed away Thursday, December 21, 2017 at Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare.
She was born October 11, 1943 in Norwich, a daughter of the late Ledro and Mary Muncil Empie, and was a graduate of Earlville High School. Cynthia was a hairdresser for many years in Lebanon, and was later employed at SUNY Morrisville and then SUNY Oswego as a maintenance supervisor until her retirement. She was a member of the Columbus Community Church.
Surviving are a daughter Karen Manoiero-Appel and her husband, Craig Appel of Utica; Steve Barker and Debbie of Earlville; Debbie Wilbur of Canastota; her former son-in-law, Francesco Manoiero of Marcy; a brother, Brian Empie and Barbara Riggall of Hamilton; grandchildren, Anthony Appel, Jedadiah Gaudin and Abbi, who resided and cared for her in the past couple of years, Victoria Manoiero and Agazio Manoiero; and her cat, Eva, who she loved and adored. She was predeceased by a brother, Terry Empie.
A celebration of Cynthia’s life will be held on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. at the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 25 Broad St., Hamilton. Friends are invited and may call one hour prior to the celebration.
