Helen F. Scherer, 84, formerly of Liverpool, passed away on Saturday afternoon, November 4, 2017 surrounded by her family.
Helen graduated from Liverpool High School in 1950 and married William J. Scherer. She devoted her early years to raising her five children before going to work for the telephone company where she retired as a senior computer ops clerk from Bell Atlantic/Verizon. Helen loved tradition, traveling, craft shows and camping. She became an avid painter in her retirement years.
In 1992, Bill and Helen moved to West Eaton. Helen was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Hamilton. She served on the Board of Elections. She was predeceased by her husband of 61 years in 2012.
She is survived by son William E. (Patrice), four daughters, Donna Isbell (Carl), Diane Scherer, Brenda Miller (Ed), Renee Scherer; five grandchildren, Timothy Strand, Matthew Strand, Randy Bergin, William R. Scherer and Emily Scherer; three great-grandchildren, Chloe and Gage Strand, Dillan Bergin; three sisters, Mary Barrett, Janet Grovine, Carolyn Voumard; and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am Wednesday, November 8, at St. Mary’s Church, 16 Wylie St., Hamilton, NY with interment in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, 8668 Oswego Rd., (Rt. 57) in Liverpool.
Friends are invited to call at the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 25 Broad St., Hamilton on Tuesday from 4-7pm.
