Obituary for Jane E. Vivyan (Hooper)

Jane Edley Hooper Vivyan, longtime resident of Waterville, New York, died September 25, 2017 at Waterville Residential Care Center (formerly Harding Nursing Home) at the age of 98. Jane had lived there since 2006, blessed by the compassionate care of the owners and staff.
Jane was born May 22, 1919 in Syracuse, NY, daughter of Harry J. and Fairy Church Hooper, and spent her early school years in Onondaga and Oswego counties. She graduated from Whitesboro Central School in 1937.
Jane combined home and career throughout her life. Employed by Utica Mutual, Waterville Central School and Whitesboro School District, she retired in 1987. Jane was known as a most efficient and thorough administrative assistant. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Waterville.
Jane and Robert Vivyan were married June 19, 1948 in Whitesboro. The family enjoyed traveling together. Jane especially enjoyed attending the sporting events of her grandsons and welcoming great-grandchildren into her life. Personal pleasures included reading and dining out.
Jane is predeceased by infant son, James; daughter and son-in-law Barbara and Anthony Farina; and husband, Robert. She is survived by son, R. James Vivyan of New York City; daughter, Deborah (Gary) Grundman of Woodland, CA; grandsons: Anthony (Diane) Farina, Adam Farina, Andrew and David Grundman; and great-grandchildren: A.J., Kyler and Kambry Farina, Nathaniel and Nicholas Grundman.
Burial will take place privately at Crown Hill Memorial Park, Clinton, New York. Memorials may be offered to the Waterville United Methodist Church, 401 Tower Street, Waterville, NY, 13480.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 210 E. Main St., Waterville.
