Obituary for Judith H. "Judy" Marceau (Plante)

Judith H. "Judy" Marceau (Plante)
Judith "Judy" H. (Plante) Marceau, 75, of Tower St., Waterville, NY, passed away Thursday, September 14, 2017 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY.
She was born December 16, 1941 in Waterville, NY the daughter of George and Harriet Mason Plante. She was a graduate of Waterville High School and received her Bachelors degree in Nursing from SUNY Plattsburgh. On January 9, 1965, Judy married Everett L. “Coop” Marceau at St. Bernard’s Church, Waterville. They shared a loving union of 52 years until he predeceased her on March 24, 2017. She was a lifelong member of St. Bernard's Church in Waterville.
Anyone who knew Judy would agree that nursing was her calling. She worked for several years at Hamilton Hospital and then at Harding Nursing Home before landing her dream job as School Nurse at Madison Central School, where she worked for 22 years before retiring in 2002. She loved her students at Madison and she loved the fact the job allowed her to spend summers at home with her children. To this day, her family runs into former Madison School students who share fond memories of Judy.
Following her retirement, Judy enjoyed traveling to visit her siblings, children and grandchildren living out of town. In 2009, Judy selflessly took on another important role as caregiver for her husband after he suffered a stroke. She lovingly cared for him until his death earlier this year.
Judy had a positive impact on all people she came in contact with. Her lifelong strength, positive attitude and kindheartedness will be missed by all who knew her. She spent her entire life helping and caring for others, and never asked for anything in return. Her hobbies included league bowling in Waterville and Oriskany Falls, taking day trips to Vernon Downs and spending time with her loved ones, which included Sunday morning coffee.
Surviving are her children, Lisa and Mark Schnorr of Rochester; Scott Marceau (Kathy Ferrucci) of Waterville; Robert and Diane Marceau of Deansboro; siblings Jerald (Anne) Plante of Souderton, PA; George Plante of Riverside, CA; Daniel Plante (Michael Warner) of San Marcos, CA; and Douglas Plante (Mikel Moon) of Waterville; her seven beloved grandchildren, Nicole and Derek Schnorr, Andrew, Kaylee and Anna Marceau, Ali and Matt Marceau; a sister-in-law, Norma Wilcox of GA; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Her children would like to thank her niece, Angela Plante, for always being there on the rare occasion that Judy needed help.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at St. Bernard’s Church, 199 Stafford Ave., Waterville, followed by interment in St. Bernard’s Cemetery.
Friends are invited to call at the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 210 E. Main St., Waterville on Tuesday from 4-8pm.
Contributions in her memory may be made to Waterville Residential Care Center, 220 Tower Street, Waterville, NY 13480.
