Obituary for Elizabeth S. "Betty" Pinney (Maxwell)
Elizabeth S. “Betty” Pinney, 83, of County Rd. 20, Sherburne, NY, passed away Monday, January 14, 2019 at her home.
She was born August 5, 1935 in Middlefield, NY, a daughter of Lewis and Elizabeth Zupevec Maxwell and received her education in local schools. On October 6, 1951, Elizabeth married Frederick R. Pinney, Sr. in Oxford, NY. He predeceased her on July 4, 1992. Betty had worked at Standard Brands in Sherburne, and later at Proctor & Gamble in Norwich for 18 years, retiring in 1997. A loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and aunt, Betty’s family was her greatest joy. Her hobbies included reading and playing cards. She had an infectious laugh and a marvelous sense of humor.
Betty was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Sherburne; the V.F.W. Auxiliary and the Farm and Home Bureau.
Surviving are her children, Linda (Barry) Weckworth, Pamela (Raymond) Mastro, Robert, (Grace) Pinney, Sr., John (Kathleen) Pinney, Thomas (Amy) Pinney, all of Sherburne; siblings, Dolores, Tina, Karen, Cynthia, Melissa, Donna, Gary, Andrew and Lynn; sisters-in-law, Carlene and Sandra Maxwell; 21 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by two sons, Michael M. and Frederick R. Pinney, Jr.; brothers, Clifford, Clarence and William Maxwell.
Memorial Services will be held at the First United Methodist Church, Chapel St., Sherburne at 1pm Friday, January 18, 2019.
Spring interment will be in the West Hill Cemetery, Sherburne.
Friends are invited to call at the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne on Thursday from 4-7pm.
