Obituary for Elizabeth J. "Betty" Tayntor (Martin)

Elizabeth J. “Betty” Tayntor,93, of Madison Lane, Hamilton, NY, formerly of Peterboro, passed away Monday, July 31, 2017 at Community Memorial Hospital in Hamilton.
She was born on June 19, 1924 in Logan Township, PA, a daughter of Benton and Thelma Gumbert Martin and received her education in local schools. On July 18, 1946, Betty married Robert Tayntor in Clockville, NY. Betty had worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad in Philadelphia, General Electric in Canastota, and later for Vair’s Big M in Morrisville. She had also assisted Robert in the operation of their dairy farm. She was an avid reader, enjoyed crocheting, doing puzzles, going to the casinos and playing Bingo.
Betty was a member of the Peterboro United Methodist Church, the Peterboro Grange and the Madison Grange. She loved square dancing with Robert and was a member of the Belles & Beaus and Hill Top Squares.
Surviving are her husband of 71 years, Robert; a son and daughter-in-law, Arthur and Linda Tayntor of Oneida; a daughter and son-in-law, Zaida and John Gunlogson of Canastota; grandchildren, Jeffrey Tayntor of Seminole, FL; Aaron (Jessica Frenyea) Tayntor of Greenville, NY; Alison (Douglas) DeGroff of Tulare, CA; Tracy Lawrence (Sonya Merkle) of Canastota; Douglas (Jennifer) Doxtater of Canastota; Scott (Tina) Doxtater of Peterboro; great-grandchildren, Trystan and Aria Tayntor; Drew, Luke and Makenna DeGroff; Kelsey and Brandon Lawrence; Bailey, Zachary and Lila Doxtater; Aiden and Katelyn Doxtater; two nieces, a nephew and two cousins. She was predeceased by a sister, Barbara Holsinger and a brother, William Martin.
Memorial Services will be held at 1pm Saturday, August 5, 2017 at the Peterboro United Methodist Church.
Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
