Obituary for Ruth Welma Wallace (Young)

Ruth Welma (Young) Wallace, 96 of Hamilton, NY passed away Friday, March 31, 2017 in Waterville, NY.
She was born April 6, 1920 in Bouckville, NY, a daughter of Otto G. and Gladys Blair Young, and was a graduate of Madison Central School in 1938. Ruth was a cook at Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity for 15 years. She had also worked for the Mid-York Press and the Stockbridge Valley Store. Affectionately known as the “Cookie Lady”, she baked for many years for the Hamilton Farmers’ Market.
Ruth was a member of the Park United Methodist Church in Hamilton since 1941.
She is survived by her children, Cheryl (Wallace) and Lawrence Butts of Hamilton; Dennis E. and Sheila Wallace of Matthews, NC; L. Eric and Vivian Wallace of Richardson, TX; grandchildren, Kirk (Becky) Wallace, Jeffrey (Krista) Butts, Michelle Butts (Adam) Demianenko; Corey (Adrienne) Butts, Shannon Wallace (Daniel) Bailey, Crystal Wallace Greene, and Trey Wallace; fourteen great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Clyde, Melvin, Charles, Otto, Jr., Carter and Stanley, and a sister, Betty Lou.
Funeral services will be held at the Park United Methodist Church, Broad St., Hamilton on Friday, April 7, 2017 at 11am.
Interment in Woodlawn Cemetery, Hamilton will be private at a later date.
Friends are invited to call at the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 25 Broad St., Hamilton on Thursday from 4-7pm.
