Obituary for Charlotte E. Oakes

CHARLOTTE E. OAKES

HAMILTON: Miss Charlotte E. Oakes, 99, of Randallsville Road, passed away Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at the Waterville Residential Care Center.
She was born a daughter of Clarence and Florence Arnst Oakes on May 10, 1917 in Randallsville, a small village outside of Hamilton, NY where she lived all her life. Charlotte attended grade school across the road from her home then graduated from Hamilton High School in 1935. She then attended Cortland Normal School for 3 years before transferring to Oneonta for the last year of her Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education. Charlotte was a Madison County Social Worker, first in Hamilton then in Wampsville, for over 40 years. She was a member of the Randallsville Baptist Church where she enjoyed teaching Sunday School. Charlotte was also an avid NY Rangers fan.
Charlotte is survived by several nieces and nephews and grandnephews and was predeceased by her sisters Edna Potter, Doris Davenport, Alice Fleming, and Pauline Carpenter.
Services will be held at 2pm Monday, March 13, 2017 from the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 25 Broad St., Hamilton.
Interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
Friends are invited to call from 1-2pm Monday, March 13, 2017 from the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 25 Broad St., Hamilton.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the Randallsville New Life Church, 1528 River Road, Hamilton, NY 13346.
