Obituary for William L. Welsh

William L.  Welsh
William L. “Bill” Welsh, 79, of Middle Settlement Rd., Whitesboro, NY, formerly of Waterville, passed away Monday, March 6, 2017 at Abraham House in Utica.
He was born January 10, 1938 in Utica, a son of Charles R., Sr., and Kathryn Buell Welsh and was a graduate of Waterville High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving from September 1956 until August 1959. On December 31, 1960, Bill married Sarah Strain in Waterville. Bill was a machinist at Bendix, and then worked at Orion Bus until retiring in 2002. He was a sports enthusiast and an avid fan of Syracuse University basketball. He enjoyed reading, car shows and movies. Bill loved spending time with his family.
Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Sarah; a son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Tina Welsh of Loon Lake, WA; three grandchildren, Diamond, Jade and Zachary Welsh; brothers and sisters and their spouses, Gene and Sally Sinardo of Waterville; Glen and LaNora Welsh of Burlington NC; Karen Burnett of Whitesboro; Judy and Tony Strong of Knoxboro; Pat Strong of S. Daytona, FL; Barbara and L.D. Crumb of Hubbardsville; Laurie Welsh of Port Orange, FL; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers, Charles, Jr., Howard and Richard Welsh; and three sisters, Kathy Paino, Donna Melvin and Linda Godfrey.
Memorial services will be held at 4pm Saturday, March 11, 2017 from the Kloster & Northrop Memorial Chapel at the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 210 East Main St., Waterville.
Interment with military honors will be in the Waterville Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Saturday from 2-4pm.
