Obituary for Harold E. Tucker

Harold E. Tucker, 92, of Peterboro, passed away Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at the home of his daughter in Saratoga Springs.
He was born January 22, 1925 in Clockville, NY, a son of Earl and Mildred Wright Tucker and was a graduate of Morrisville-Eaton Central School. Harold proudly served his country in the U.S. Army 101st Infantry Regiment during WWII from 1944-45 in the Rhineland/Ardennes. He was also served with the Infantry Squad 26th Division in France and Belgium. On September 27, 1946, Harold married Leona “Shirley” Stewart in Peterboro, NY. He worked for the Madison County Highway Department as a heavy equipment operator and foreman until retiring in 1986. He enjoyed woodworking in his shop.
Harold was a member of the Peterboro United Methodist Church; the Smithfield Fire Department; and a life member of the American Legion Post #54 in Munnsville. He had also served as the Town Justice in Smithfield.
Surviving are his wife of over 70 years, Leona; his children, Deborah and Stanton Mesh of Nashville, NC; Dawn and Jay Paro of Saratoga Springs; Lori and Gary Strong of Oneida; Richard and Sheila Tucker of McConnellsville; Gary and Carolyn Tucker of Peterboro; a sister, Geraldine Reed of Oneida; 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Millicent Hayward.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm Saturday, March 4, 2017 from the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 31 Cedar St., Morrisville.
Interment with military honors will be in the Peterboro Cemetery.
Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Friday from 6-8pm.
