Walter Frank Jaquay, age 79, of Hamilton, NY passed away on July 13, 2016 after a brief illness.
He was born in Norwich, NY on July 2, 1937 to the late Charles and Muriel Jaquay. He moved to Hamilton when he was 4 years old becoming a lifelong resident and member of The First Baptist Church.
Walter graduated from Hamilton Central School and Morrisville Agricultural and Technical College. In Hamilton, he raised his family with Gladys, operated a dairy farm as well as Jaquay Feed Company, while simultaneously serving his community in multiple committees and organizations including, Chenango Nursery School, Hamilton Central School Board of Education, Town of Hamilton Councilman and Supervisor, Madison County Board of Supervisors, Farmers Home Administration Committee, the Soil and Water Conservation Committee and SOMAC, to name a few. He fulfilled each of these roles in his family and community with dedication, enthusiasm and an unparalleled work ethic. Walter possessed an expert knowledge of agriculture. He was an avid fan of sports and politics, but most of all of his six granddaughters. Discussing any these topics with family, friends and acquaintances gave him great joy. He will be remembered as a cherished, devoted and committed husband, father, grandfather, brother, son, an active public servant, and a kind and faithful friend to many.
Walter is survived by his dedicated wife of 54 years, Gladys, daughter Theresa Thurlow and husband Nicholas, son Kevin Jaquay and wife Heather, daughter Tammy Cenci and husband Geno, his treasured and adoring grandchildren, Abigail and Sarah Thurlow, Lauren and Kallie Jaquay and Emily and Rachel Cenci, his dear sister Jacqueline Jaquay and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather for visiting hours which will be held at Burgess and Tedesco Funeral Home, 25 Broad St., Hamilton on Monday, July 18th from 4-7 pm.
Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist Church, Hamilton at 1pm Tuesday, July 19th. Burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
